The terms and conditions on which services are provided depend on whether the service is provided through a solicitor or directly to the public under the direct access scheme. For solicitor cases, revised standard terms of contract apply, available to download here. For direct access work, Ian Jones’ model terms of business are available here, with further guidance at Annex F2 of the Bar Code of Conduct. Work for which a fixed fee is not agreed in advance or prescribed by law/regulation will be charged at an hourly rate of £225+VAT per hour unless otherwise agreed. Travel charges will be based on a combination of mileage and time spent travelling.
